Fort Bend Fresh Water District 1

Fort Bend County Freshwater Supply District No. 1 (“FW1”) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas.  FW1 was created by an Order of the Commissioners Court of Fort Bend County, dated October 22, 1996, pursuant to the terms and provisions of Article XVI, Section 59 of the Texas Constitution and Chapters 49 and 53 of the Texas Water Code, as amended.

FW1 is empowered, among other things, to purchase, construct, operate and maintain all works, improvements, facilities and plants necessary for the supply and distribution of water.   FW1 is in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Houston and is subject to the continuing supervision of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

NOTICES

Meetings:

Pursuant to the March 16, 2020, Declaration by the Governor of the State of Texas, certain requirements of  Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, have been suspended in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) disaster.  This action allows governmental bodies to conduct meetings by telephone or video conference to advance the public health goal of limiting face-to face meetings (also called “social distancing”) to slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  Accordingly, until further notice, FW1will conduct its meetings via this method.  The Agenda for each such meeting will include instructions to dial in to the meeting to listen and, at the appropriate time, make public comment.  

Postponement of May 2, 2020 Supervisors and Tax Assessor/Collector Election (the “Election”)

In response to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and as authorized by and in accordance with the Governor’s March 18, 2020, Proclamation, the Board of Supervisors (the “Board”) of FW1, by Order, has postponed the Election scheduled for May 2, 2020, until November 3, 2020, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (the “Postponed Election”).

All accepted and timely filed written applications for a place on the ballot for the Election will remain valid for the Postponed Election.  The candidate filing period is closed; and will not be reopened for the Postponed Election.  The order of the candidates’ names on the ballot was determined by a ballot drawing on conducted on February 24, 2020, and will remain valid for the Postponed Election.

All accepted applications for ballot by mail from individuals who are 65 years of age or older or disabled will remain valid for the Postponed Election.  All applications for ballot by mail submitted by individuals with expected absence from the county during the Election will not be valid for the Postponed Election.

Early voting by personal appearance for the Postponed Election will be conducted from Monday, October 19, 2020, through Friday, October 30, 2020.

Aplazamiento de la elección del 2 de mayo de 2020 de supervisores y asesores fiscales / recaudadores (la “elección”)

En respuesta a la propagación del nuevo coronavirus (COVID-19), y según lo autorizado y de acuerdo con la Proclamación del Gobernador del 18 de marzo de 2020, la Junta de Supervisores (la “Junta”) de FW1, por orden, ha pospuesto las elecciones programadas para el 2 de Mayo de 2020 hasta el 3 de Noviembre de 2020, entre las 7:00 a.m. y las 7:00 p.m. (la “Elección aplazada”).

Todas las solicitudes escritas aceptadas y presentadas a tiempo para un lugar en la boleta electoral para la Elección seguirán siendo válidas para la Elección aplazada. El período de presentación de candidatos está cerrado; y no se volverá a abrir para la Elección aplazada. El orden de los nombres de los candidatos en la boleta electoral se determinó mediante un sorteo que se llevó a cabo el 24 de febrero de 2020 y seguirá siendo válido para la Elección aplazada.

Todas las solicitudes aceptadas de votación por correo de personas mayores de 65 años o discapacitadas seguirán siendo válidas para la Elección aplazada. Todas las solicitudes de boleta por correo enviadas por personas con ausencia esperada del condado durante la Elección no serán válidas para la Elección aplazada.

La votación anticipada por comparecencia personal para las elecciones pospuestas se realizará desde el lunes 19 de Octubre de 2020 hasta el viernes 30 de Octubre de 2020.
